LEAP Education Outreach Summit

The 2006 LEAP Summit on Saturday, February 4th was a tremendous success! Nearly 150 educators from all over the Puget Sound region attended the forum, which promoted discussion and collaboration amongst life sciences education outreach organizations. Lee Huntsman, President Emeritus of the University of Washington and Executive Director of the State of Washington's Life Science Discovery Fund, delivered the keynote address entitled, "Working Together to Forge a Better Washington."

The summit provided area teachers and school district administrators with a unique opportunity to directly discuss life sciences education outreach opportunities with specific program managers. The LEAP Summit increased awareness of regional science outreach programs, fostered collaborations between existing programs, educators and industry representatives and generated an online resource guide for teachers, administrators and guidance counselors. Thank you to our presenters, sponsors, and attendees for making this a terrific outreach event!

AMA Foundation Grant will Fund Speaker Series in Washington and Oregon
